Tosaint Ricketts, U 20 national team - forward.

Tosaint will be here in June - July for the U 20 world cup, meaning he's one of the world's best already. Talking with Tosaint, I can tell you that he's a streetwise young man but very straight forward & polite in conversation.

He's heading off to HANNOVER 96 in the German Bundesliga pretty soon, now that's a great club to start with !!!

Steven Gerrard had a perfect day & it started at Buckingham Palace.

The Liverpool midfielder, 26, received his award for services to football at Buckingham Palace in the morning before rushing back to train with the rest of the England squad at Wembley. And it proved to be one of the most memorable days of his life.

"It's not every day you receive an MBE and play at Wembley, is it?" he told us.

"I knew the date when I was going to be receiving my MBE because I had to reply to the letter - and then obviously this get-together fell in that time. So I had to speak to Steve McClaren and make sure it was all right to go and receive it.

"We had to be at the Palace at 10 o’clock in the morning, someone tells you what the proceedings are and then it all happens quite quickly. You get briefed on what you need to say and what you need to do.

"I was just a little bit nervous I would say the wrong thing. But it all went quite smoothly and once I received the medal I felt more relaxed.

"I had a conversation with the Queen - it was mostly about football. She wished me all the best for the forthcoming internationals and just told me to keep doing what I've been doing."

Gerrard plans to keep the honour alongside his burgeoning collection of football medals, and right now he couldn't be more proud.He added: "The actual medal is quality. I didn't really know what we were going to get but it's a special medal and one that I’'ll treasure.

"I think I will put it with my football medals because this achievement has come through football and obviously I wouldn’t have achieved it without great help from my teammates, coaching staff, friends and family who have been there through the highs and lows with me."

Gerrard talked about his MBE to his England teammates when he got back to the hotel and he admits he got a bit of a ribbing from some of them.

"There has been a bit of mickey-taking in the squad and when I got back to the hotel for a team meeting the staff had a special welcome for me," he revealed.

"They were all knighting me when I walked in! It was a special day and it's been really exciting for me. I just hope we can get the right result at the weekend to complete a special week."

Not surprisingly, Gerrard says his day was made all the more memorable because he became one of the first players to play at the rebuilt Wembley, training there with the rest of the England squad before jetting off to Israel today for a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier.

He added: "The stadium is magnificent. We were all excited going down there and the boys are looking forward now to playing there for real.

"We do play in big grounds across the world but this is Wembley and it’s special. All the players grew up watching special games there and think it will be great to be part of matches

Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League
Continues Showcase Season.

The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League played the second match of its inaugural Showcase Season matches before a crowd of 3,730 at Rexall Place.

Before the anthem, the reborn Edmonton Drillers line up.

Calgary's United FC handed the hometown Edmonton Drillers a 4-0 loss in the opening game of the match before being blanked 3-0 in the second game. Calgary prevailed 3-2 in the shootout round to secure a 2-1 match victory.

In a very even two game system, Calgary took the first game, coming out of the gate quicker & stronger, with excellent pass & move tactics. They would eventually win 4-0, looking very good in the process !

Game two was bossed by Edmonton with Antonio Raggo getting the first goal, with a sweet low drive into the net, leaving Calgary keeper Arnold no chance of making a save. Martin Dugas & Mark Slade also got on the scoresheet to complete the scoring in a very exciting 3-0 win over the Calgarians !!!

Rexall Place & the game is on, fantastic !

CMISL Showcase Season matches consist of two, four 10-minute quarter games, with the winner of the match being determined in a shootout should the teams split the two games.

"Although we had hoped a few more people would come out, we are very
encouraged," said Drillers owner Dr. Brent Saik. "There's obviously a very
solid base of soccer fans in Edmonton and the surrounding communities who are obviously prepared to support a league like the CMISL."

The Rexall Place crowd pushes the CMISL's attendance for the first two
Showcase Season matches to 5,580.

I got to say a few words at half time & we should all remember, we have to talk to people who don't know our game, we have to bring them along>

Once they come , they'll be back for more, just like us, we have to promote the game together, it's our mission, it's our game !!!

"We expected a larger crowd but we are satisfied with the number of fans who came out to show their support for the indoor game," CMISL president Mel Kowalchuk said. "There are a number of challenges to staging a game in a facility as large as Rexall Place.

I firmly believe with a smaller venue the Drillers could do very well in this market."

The CMISL's Showcase Season continues March 23 when Winnipeg's Alliance FC visits Saskatoon March 23 and Edmonton travels to Winnipeg April 1 to close out the league's test schedule.

Final Score - Calgary 3-2 Edmonton.
