Steve's
Daily Shot...........
It's
a Three Horse Race for EPL Glory !
For
me, the 2009-10 EPL season rates as the best season in years &
it's gearing up for a very close finish. What makes this season
that extra bit special?
Well,
for the first time in memory, we have three teams pushing for
the title not the regular two which overtime does become a little
predictable, maybe even boring!
Arsenal,
Chelsea & Manchester United all have a real shot at winning
the title but the favorite for my money, is still Chelsea. Injuries,
suspensions & loss in form will also factor in where the trophy
ends up but the healthiest & most disciplined team will become
Champions!
Look
for first place to change hands a few times, as these three fit
in games but this weekend Man United replaced Arsenal to go back
to first place as they thrashed Hull City 4-0 at Old Trafford.
United cannot afford to drop any points, every game is a must
win situation!
All
three are close on points & goal difference is pretty tight
too but it's when these three go head-head that it's going to
count the most. Also factor in when these three juggernauts play
any top six team as highlighted below.
On
that note: Tottenham play all three in the last five games of
the season & may cause hearts to flutter with victory over
any of the three. Manchester
City play Arsenal & man United in the last 5 too & would
love to spoil United's title hopes as they look to qualify for
Champions League football!
But
it's going to be a great finish to a fantastic season & my
tip remains Chelsea, I'm not changing my mind!
Top
three remaining EPL schedule: highlighting a top six opponent.
Arsenal
- 16 game Schedule:
Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal
- Arsenal
1-3 Man Utd -
Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal
- Arsenal v Liverpool
- Arsenal v Sunderland - Stoke v Arsenal - Arsenal v Burnley -
Hull v Arsenal - Arsenal v West Ham - Birmingham v Arsenal - Arsenal
v Wolverhampton - Tottenham v Arsenal
- Wigan v Arsenal - Arsenal v Man City
- Blackburn v Arsenal - Arsenal v Fulham.
Arsenal
have set a great pace of late but have they peaked too early in
the season & are they about to burn out is the question. I
for one would find it fitting to see the title ending up in North
London but somehow I don't think it will. They play great football
when allowed to but it's defending at the highest level that matters.
For the Gunners to win the title they must overcome the next 4
games with three wins or the title is gone!
Chelsea
- 17 game Schedule: Chelsea
3-0 Birmingham - Burnley 1-2 Chelsea - Hull 1-1 Chelsea - Chelsea
2-0 Arsenal - Everton v Chelsea
- Wolverhampton v Chelsea - Chelsea v Man
City - Portsmouth v Chelsea - Chelsea v West Ham - Blackburn
v Chelsea - Chelsea v Aston Villa
- Man Utd v Chelsea - Chelsea v Bolton - Tottenham
v Chelsea - Chelsea v Stoke - Liverpool
v Chelsea - Chelsea v Wigan.
Chelsea
latest: Michael Essien is out for 6 weeks due to injury &
won't return until early March but the Blues have depth and should
overcome his absence. Good news however the African players will
return very soon to bolster Chelseas title challenge.
Manchester
United - 16 game Schedule:
Man Utd 4-0 Hull - Arsenal 1-3
Man Utd - Man Utd 5-0 Portsmouth - Aston
Villa v Man Utd - Everton v Man Utd - Man Utd v West Ham
- Wolverhampton v Man Utd - Man Utd v Fulham - Man
Utd v Liverpool - Bolton v Man Utd - Man
Utd v Chelsea - Blackburn v Man Utd - Man
City v Man Utd - Man Utd v Tottenham
- Sunderland v Man Utd - Man Utd v Stoke.
Man
United a team trying to find it & still struggling to find
each other but for all the growing pains they still threaten to
win 4 in a row. Should United click into form & show their
dominece they could challenge the blues all the way. If United
snatch the title Chelsea will have thrown it away as in years
gone bywhich proves as often as United score late goals they're
always ready to pounce on your points dropped. Let's hope it goes
down to the final day!
